Wolfe, Richard

Notes
An early and little-known London-based New Zealand Company tried to settle British migrants on our shores in the mid-1820s. Two ships entered the Hokianga Harbour and bought land from a Maori chief. But the venture quickly failed, the migrants demanded to be taken to Sydney, and all thoughts of settlement were abandoned.
