Summary: Thirteen-year-old Charlotte is obsessed with Jane Eyre. She dreams of living in a Gothic Mansion in the Yorkshire countryside - instead she goes to Harraby Comprehensive School, where her mother (an English teacher) always has her eye on her, and nothing exciting ever happens. Resigned to her boring life for the time being, she decides to find a Mr Rochester for her mum. He appears in the form of a dark, handsome new French teacher - the perfect future husband for her mum! But Mr Grant turns out to be not nearly as charming as his sideburns had promised. Has she set her mum up with an evil, philandering bigamist, and what on earth will she do if her mum actually marries him
