Fourteen-year-old Adunni's life is looking for her louding voice. She wants to be heard. But her desire for an education ranks low. She is the only daughter of a broke father, who sells her into marriage as the third wife of an older man. When life in her new home becomes untenable, she escapes, only to become a domestic slave in wealthy Lagos, where her voice is stolen again by her boss Big Madam. Again and again, Adunni is reminded that she is nothing. Again and again, Adunni riles against those above her.
